Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 24, 2026
Engineers in Heels respects the privacy of our students, families, educators, volunteers, members, donors, partners, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect through our website, programs, events, forms, registrations, donations, and other interactions; how we use and protect that information; and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect information you provide directly to us, including your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, school or organization, age or age range, parent or guardian information, program interests, event registration information, volunteer or membership information, partnership inquiries, and other information submitted through our forms.
For youth programs, we may also collect information reasonably necessary to administer participation, such as a student’s name, age, grade level, school, parent or guardian contact information, emergency contact details, program selections, and relevant participation information.
We may automatically receive limited technical information when you use our website, including IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, and website usage information.
2. How We Use Information
We may use information to operate our programs and events, process registrations, respond to inquiries, communicate with students and families, manage volunteers and members, coordinate partnerships, provide educational opportunities, administer scholarships or sponsored participation, process donations, improve our website and programs, maintain security, keep appropriate organizational records, and comply with legal obligations.
We may also send newsletters, program announcements, event information, fundraising communications, or other updates when you have requested them or when otherwise permitted by law. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe option provided in the message.
3. Children and Student Privacy
Protecting children’s privacy is especially important to Engineers in Heels. When a participant is a minor, we may require a parent or legal guardian to complete registrations, provide permissions, or submit information on the child’s behalf.
We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian consent where such consent is required. If we learn that information has been collected from a child in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete or properly address that information.
Parents and guardians may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information relating to their child, subject to legal and legitimate recordkeeping requirements.
4. Photographs, Video and Program Media
Engineers in Heels may photograph or record programs, activities, workshops, fairs, and events for educational, reporting, promotional, fundraising, archival, or organizational purposes. Where required, appropriate consent or media authorization will be obtained from participants or, for minors, their parent or guardian.
We will not intentionally publish sensitive personal information about a minor together with their photograph or video without appropriate authorization.
5. Donations and Payments
When you make a donation or payment, certain information may be collected to process the transaction. Payment card or banking information may be handled directly by third-party payment processors rather than stored by Engineers in Heels.
Those payment providers process information according to their own privacy and security policies. We may receive limited transaction information such as donor name, contact information, donation amount, transaction status, and transaction reference.
We do not sell payment information.
6. Event, Program and Membership Registrations
Information submitted for programs, events, memberships, scholarships, volunteering, mentoring, or other opportunities may be used to determine eligibility, manage participation, communicate schedules and requirements, maintain attendance records, and evaluate the effectiveness of our programs.
We may retain relevant program records when reasonably necessary for organizational, reporting, grant, safeguarding, financial, or legal purposes.
7. Volunteers, Mentors and Partners
If you apply to volunteer, mentor, speak, partner, sponsor, or otherwise work with Engineers in Heels, we may collect information related to your application, professional background, organization, interests, availability, qualifications, and other information reasonably necessary to evaluate or manage the relationship.
Where a role involves interaction with minors, additional screening or verification information may be requested when appropriate.
8. Cookies and Website Technologies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate correctly, remember preferences, understand website traffic, improve performance, prevent abuse, and measure how visitors interact with the site.
Some cookies may be provided by third-party services such as analytics, embedded media, payment providers, registration systems, or social media platforms.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect some website functionality.
9. Analytics
We may use website analytics services to understand how visitors use our site. These services may collect information such as pages viewed, general geographic area, browser type, device information, referral source, and interaction patterns.
We use this information to improve our website, understand audience needs, and measure the effectiveness of our communications.
10. When We Share Information
We may share information with trusted service providers that help us operate our website, process payments, manage registrations, send communications, host data, provide technical services, support events, or perform other services on our behalf.
We may also share information when required by law, legal process, court order, regulatory requirement, or when reasonably necessary to protect the safety, rights, property, or security of Engineers in Heels, our participants, or others.
We do not sell personal information for money.
11. Schools, Community Organizations and Program Partners
Some programs may be delivered in partnership with schools, nonprofits, companies, community organizations, government entities, universities, or other institutions. Information necessary to administer a joint program may be shared with the relevant partner when appropriate.
Where another organization independently collects information from you, its own privacy practices may also apply.
12. International Programs and Data Transfers
Engineers in Heels may operate programs, partnerships, or educational activities in the United States, Africa, and other locations. As a result, information may be accessed, processed, or stored in a country different from the one in which it was originally collected.
Where required, we take reasonable steps to handle such information consistently with applicable privacy requirements.
13. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no website, electronic transmission, database, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
14. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including program administration, communications, donor records, financial obligations, grant reporting, safeguarding, dispute resolution, security, and legal or regulatory requirements.
When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.
15. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the ability to request access, correction, deletion, restriction of certain processing, withdrawal of consent, or information about how your data is used.
We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. Some information may need to be retained where required by law or for legitimate organizational purposes.
16. Email and Communications
You may unsubscribe from promotional or fundraising emails at any time. We may still send administrative communications that are necessary for registrations, donations, programs, memberships, applications, safety matters, or other transactions you have initiated.

Our website may contain links to websites or services operated by other organizations. Engineers in Heels is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of third-party websites. We encourage visitors to review the privacy policies of those services before providing personal information.
